This post is part of the ongoing Woman Crush Wednesday series. I strongly believe that real women support other women, which is why each Wednesday I will be doing a profile on an inspiring female travel blogger who I think deserves a shout out for their amazing content. If you can think of any amazing ladies who fit this bill please get in touch with your suggestion.
After finishing up a heavy relationship in 2007 and realising that is a strong independent woman who don’t need no man, Sab took herself off the Maldives to have an amazing vacation. She loved it so much that she didn’t return and ended up travelling the world for over a year! After unfortunately having to return to the world of full-time employment in 2010 she vowed to find a way to return to travelling. By November 2010 she had booked, you guessed it, a one-way ticket! She started off her blog in 2013 and immediately started smashing it out of the park.
Why is she an inspiration to me?
There are so many reasons why I find Sab inspiring, but I’ll give you two. Number one is that she didn’t sit around waiting for the world to change and for the stars to line up perfectly for her to travel. She got dumped and it sucked. She was supposed to go to one of the most romantic places in the world which would also suck to do alone. But did that stop her from going and having an amazing time? Hell no it didn’t! And when she realised that she loved travelling too much to return to the 9-5 working life, she made a plan to change her life. She stuck to that plan and it wasn’t long before she was living her dream life!
Number two is how much she immerses herself in the cultures of the places you visit. It is so easy to be a tourist when we visit somewhere, but you could pick any of her blog posts at random and feel how much she has authentically spent time there and with the people there. She has had some posts go insanely viral (one such one I’ve linked below) and to me it’s pretty clear that this has happened because of how refreshingly genuine she is.
Why she should be an inspiration to you:
Again there are so many reasons. For those of us out there who have dreamed of quitting our jobs to travel the world, to read the stories of someone has done this and done this so successfully against all the odds, I think is incredibly inspiring. I also think it should be inspiring to you how quickly she started acing the travel blogging game. Within one year of blogging and after only sixteen blog posts she was landing 80,000+ views a month to her blog! How did she do this? Again it all comes back to that engaging content and going after what she wanted with everything she had.
Three amazing posts you should check out:
- 8 STEPS TO FREEDOM: HOW I QUIT MY JOB AND TRAVELED AROUND THE WORLD – look, I’ll be the first to admit I love a good how I quit my job to travel the world story. But to be fair, don’t we all? Well if you do, you definitely need to check out Sab’s inspiring post that lays out her steps to how she achieved this!
- 10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD TRAVEL TO THE PHILIPPINES – it still amazes me that this was her first-ever post back in 2012 because it’s SO. DAMN. GOOD! I guarantee that by the end of the post you’ll be itching to lock in the Philippines as your next vacation spot. I know I was!
- WHY I’M PROBABLY THE WORST TRAVEL BLOGGER EVER (+10 TIPS FOR GETTING BETTER) – at this point I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve read this post, but it still legitimately makes me laugh out loud every time. In this post Sab breaks down the common “rules” that bloggers are told they must follow to be successful, and turns them on their head with her own success story. If you’re a blogger who has been struggling with this, you’ll definitely love this post!
